Meet the Team

Meg Waddell: Meg works for the NHS and is actively involved in her church in Garthdee. She is involved with running the Sunday School at her church and has a passion and enthusiasm for encouraging children’s volunteers, especially for those who only have a few children in their group.

Sue Thomson: Sue is the Schools Worker at St. Columba’s Church where she leads the Ten Must Know Bible Stories project helping local schools develop their RME teaching. Her vision is to provide many “ways in” for every child in our community; many opportunities for them to learn about Christ and to grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible. Sue aims to teach every child how to come into the presence of God and to experience Him as Father, longing for each child to love God and serve Him.

Steph Brock: Steph has just finished up working for the local diocese of the Scottish Episcopal Church but remains very active in the church, and in particular has a passion for children’s ministry. She has been involved with Jump from the very beginning and is dedicated to our goal of encouraging, inspiring, and equipping volunteers and children’s workers in the north-east.

Fiona Fairhurst: Fiona is excited to be a part of the children’s ministry at Bridge of Don Baptist Church and has a particular passion to work with children and families in the surrounding community as they discover and experience more of Jesus. She works part-time as a primary school teacher and loves to discover new and creative ways to communicate God’s truths. Fiona’s husband, Gorry, is one of the unsung heroes of our Jump team, playing a big role in setting up and running our conferences!

Anna Riach: Anna is the ‘Children and Families Worker’ at Sheddocksley Baptist Church. She has led women’s and children’s ministry for many years, and has a heart to see kids and families thrive in the fullness of life that Jesus intended! She now supports and oversees a number of church-based groups such as pre-school and women’s groups, holiday clubs, Children’s church (Sunday Club) and is closely involved with our local Primary schools. She has been creating and leading prayer spaces in schools in her area of town over the last several years and she still gets a thrill out of it – every time!! Anna says it is always such a huge privilege and joy to witness children (and sometimes the teachers too) encountering our living God in prayer, many of them for the first time!

David & Cheri Young: David is the children’s pastor at Aberdeen Christian Fellowship in the city centre. He oversees and runs various events and programmes in the church as well as working in several of the local schools by teaching RME lessons, assemblies, and helping to run an SU group. Cheri is the local regional worker for Scripture Union, which involves supporting SU volunteers around the region, visiting schools and churches to speak about SU, as well as running weekend & week-long camps at Scottish outdoor centres. They both have a passion for seeing churches working together to raise up children who love Jesus.
